ABOUT ME
Hellooo, I'm Jasmine!
I am a journalist with Storyful News. In this role, I discover, license, clear, verify, and write articles about timely news and viral video content. I have reported on countless breaking stories, including global protests, the assassination attempt on former President Trump, the Iran conflict, national and international climate emergencies, mass shootings, and more.
Previously, I worked at CBS Media Ventures, BuzzFeed Studios, ABC News, and VICE News, with a primary focus on breaking news and documentaries.
I'm passionate about the convergence of social media and news, particularly in the areas of social newsgathering, visual investigations, and combating disinformation. I’m also interested in the intersection of AI and the online information ecosystem, including risk intelligence, real-time monitoring of breaking events, and trust and safety, as well as misinformation and synthetic media detection.
Outside of my newsy life, I am a UC Berkeley graduate, where I studied Global Studies and Journalism. In my free time, I take aimless walks for hours on end, read poetry, obsessively create Spotify playlists, and bake delicious treats for my family and friends (we won't talk about the numerous kitchen fires I've started).
Check out my Junkyard to learn a little bit more about the storytellers, organizations, and people that inspire me to be a better journalist and person (along with my top recommendations for coffee shops and restaurants in the city)!
If you think I’d be a good fit for any opportunities or want to connect, feel free to reach out via my contact page!
